Bigtop Underworld was specially written for Play In A Week. The company was composed of 60 mixed-ability (sight/ hearing/ mobility/ learning impaired) performers, musicians, technicians and puppeteers. These people came together from the Freewheelers, Seeability and Discovery groups in Guildford, with support from the Nomad Theatre Company. The play is rehearsed in one week and staged on the Saturday and Sunday of that week. Hence the name of the project 'Play in a Week'.
'Bigtop Underworld' is set in a struggling circus: a whimp for a strongman, a depressed clown, a flyer who's scared of heights and a bunch of pussies for wildcats. Will the arrival of a mysterous potion peddler make things better? Or worse?
